In 2-3 paragraphs, explain how EACH of these images represents part of who you are. Please use complete sentences:
I used a little bit more than 8, because I felt I was letting some thing out and that wasn’t right for me. I named each layer so I will explain them with their names next to a number. While I was creating it, it started to look like if every one of my favorite people was celebrating Messi kissing the Americas Cup, so I ended up playing with that idea and creating this celebration picture.
1 (astrology): I used this image with 25% opacity over a white background to act as a base to place everything I like over it. I love astrology and, differently from most people, I think is pretty accurate and interesting. It represents me a lot because I am always doing the birth chart to my friends or people that is really close to me. I decided to do that with the opacity so it would give some clarity to my image.
2 (music): I thought that this was a cool way to show the music that I like the most, as it is a literal screenshot of my Spotify homepage. Taylor Swift appears first because it is what I am listening to the most these past weeks, but the truth is that I keep rotating in between everything that is in the collage. The Hamilton soundtrack is there because it is my favorite play: I think the songs are incredible and meaningful, and they are always part of my life’s soundtrack. Quiero Volver by Tini is my favorite album of her. She is a singer from Argentina, but she is well kown around the world, as she was the main character in a Disney show called Violetta. Last but not least you can see a playlist called Old School Disney because the soundtrack from the old Disney series and movies are also some of my favorite things. In there you can find Hannah Montana, High School Musical, Lizzie McGuire, etc.
3 (NYC): This is by far one of my favorite cities in the world. I love the vibes that this city gives, even if it can seem super crazy. Going there for one or two days with my best friend every once in a while is one of my favorite things to do.
4 (Waikiki): I was lucky enough to live in Waikiki for six months thanks to an exchange program I did in 2019. Before that, I wasn’t a beach person because I was one of those that get annoyed really quick with the sand and the salty hair, but now is something that I miss every day. I hope that someday I can go back there.
5 (Avengers): I put the Avengers in here because they are something I discovered not long ago, and they give me pure joy. One of the things I enjoy the most in life is sitting back, relax, and watch some Marvel. I think it is funny how I unintentionally put them in there on the first place and then, when I was all done, I realize that they look like if they were coming in from a portal like in Avengers: Endgame.
6 (Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana): Miley is one of my favorite artists from all times. I grew up with her: I was only 12 when Hannah Montana first aired. I learned a lot, both from Miley and Hannah, and her songs are something that somehow shaped me into who I am today.
7 (Lionel Scaloni): Scaloni is the Argentina Soccer Team current coach. He is important to me because it is the first coach I see that helps Argentina win some major championship like it was the Americas Cup. I know that Argentina won a lot of important titles in the past, but I wasn’t alive yet. He is also the reason why in Argentina we have a lot of memes that I really love, such as the one with the thug life glasses I used for the collage.
8 (Me): As I said before, when I was composing this collage, it accidentally looked like if everyone was celebrating Messi and the Americas Cup, so I thought that my picture should be in a celebrating pose too. I like that I am surrounded by everything that I love and admire.
9 (Victoria Alonso): Victoria Alonso is one of the 3 main heads at Marvel Studios. She is the only woman, and she is also the only foreigner with such a high title in the company. Of course, she is from Argentina. I look up to her because it I hard to be a woman in a man’s world, and I am pretty aware of that, so I can only imagine how much harder it is to actually have to put out your ideas and tell the rest of the team what to do and be respected. She is also the one that brought some of the feminist and LGBT supportive ideas to Marvel Studios.
10 (Nico Vazquez): Nico Vazquez is an actor from Argentina that I have loved ever since I can remember. He had to be part of this collage because he is a part of myself too. I have been to every theatre play he did and watched every show he starred.
11 (Argentina Soccer team): I love this picture, just looking at it makes me happy. I am 27 years old and ever since I first saw Messi playing for Argentina (when I was 12) all I have ever wanted is for him to be happy too. Argentina’s Soccer team had a long time of bad luck in which we would get to the very end of the championship and loose right there, which was frustrating (think of the 2014 World Cup, for example). This was the first time we were able to actually win an important final, and it was against Brazil, which who we have a long rival history. Messi kissing the Cup is everything I ever wanted and more. Now I just hope that the next one is the World Cup.
12 (Spiderman): Spiderman, also known as Peter Parker, is my favorite male superhero; he makes me really happy too. I identify with him because it is really easy for him to get in trouble and mess things up, but he gives everything that is at his reach to solve whatever mess he made. I thought he would look funny up there in the collage, it is like some sort of Easter Egg for people to find.
13 (Harry Potter): Another one I grew up with. Harry Potter is no doubt the face of my childhood (as the first movie came out when I was 6), so he had to be here too. It was also the first book series I finished completely and the one I love the most. I really wanted to add Ron and Hermione with him but couldn’t find a picture that would match with the idea of the collage, so I got this one of him looking up: he seems to be super happy for Messi too.
14 (Scarlet Witch): Scarlet Witch, also known as Wanda Maximoff, is my favorite female superhero. She was really underrated for the last ten years, but she started to shine in the last Avengers movies. I love and admire her because I think her powers are one of the best ones and also, she has been through so much but is still standing, so I admire that.

Where are you in the image? Why did you choose to put yourself in that particular place or manner?
I am in the left side of the image, right to Victoria Alonso. I choose to put myself there because it is a part in which my arms wouldn’t mess up the editing, and also because of the way in which my picture was taken. I am celebrating Argentina’s victory with all my favorite people; it is just amazing.
How did you use Layer Blend Modes? Why did you select those Modes?
I blended a couple layers so they would match better with the environment of my collage, like I did it for the background, for example.
On what layer(s) image(s) did you change the opacity? What were you trying to communicate?
I changed the opacity in the astrology image, to make it a softer background that wouldn’t absorb all the other layers with its darkness. The original picture is pure black, and I don’t think it would look good with the opacity at 100%.
Where did you use Masking?
I used masking in the music layer to make parts of the screenshot a little bit transparent. I did this because I didn’t want it to look like a big black figure, I wanted to give it some form.
What words did you include? How are they meaningful to you?
I included parts of a song by Tini that she sings both in English and Spanish, because it was made for the movie of Violetta, the Disney movie. The song is called “Siempre brillaras” / “Born to shine”, and it is kind of my motto song that I listen every time I don’t believe in myself or in that I can achieve something, which happens pretty often. I decided to write it some in English and some in Spanish because that is just who I am. The words are: “There’s a light in your eyes and its magic, everybody is gonna see that you have it. Una voz dice cree en lo que haces, no pares, no pares” (there is a voice saying you gonna make it happen, can’t stop it, can’t stop it). I wrote them around the Avengers portal because I liked how it looked like around the circle.
How and where did you manipulate the scale of your images? What effect were you trying to create?
I manipulated the scale of all my images to make them fit better with my idea of everybody celebrating, so the body size would make sense with the position and distance. Then, for the cities, I manipulated in order for them to fill all the width of my collage and so I could also make them fit upside down. I manipulated the Spiderman image in order for him to look like if he was hanging from one of the Hawaiian buildings. I manipulated the Avengers layer in order for it to fit inside the sun circle in my astrology image. I manipulated the size and shape of my text layers in order for them to fit around the Avengers portal.
