List the items that you have on your different layers. In 2-3 paragraphs, explain how EACH of these images (#1-8) represents the quote. Please use complete sentences:
1. The background layer is a wood texture. I used this one to give the sense of a table, as I am using a sketchbook as my canvas to write the quote on, and the sketchbook needed to be on top of something.
2. The sketchbook itself. I used this one as a base for the quote to be written on, as I thought it would look more interesting to make this quote project on a “piece of paper” other than on a flat black screen like the quote images use to be. This sketchbook is composed of two pages, left and right.
3.  In the top corner of the left page there is a picture of Walt Disney that was taken when he was designing Disneyland. I gave it the ripped effect and I used pieces of black “tape” to keep under this sketchbook theme, as it looks like someone just sticked the picture there for the sketchbook collage. I like this picture of him because it aligns with the vibe of the quote I am using. It transmits joy, happiness, and the curiosity he talks about, as you can see he was just building the theme park.
4. Pen and pencil: these two elements are used to give a sense that the page was just drawn and written. I put them laying sort of sideways to give the effect that they were just used.
5. There is a layer that has some Mickey Mouse sketches. I used them because they represent the person whose quote I am using, which is Walt Disney. Mickey is his character by excellence and using lots of facial expressions seemed to go right with my theme, because they enhance my sketchbook.
6.  In the right page there is the quote itself. I wrote it myself with the digital pencil in Adobe Fresco and imported it into photoshop. I used different “fonts” and ways of writing, as I thought this would look more creative and also like it is part of a sketchbook collage.
7. Next to the quote there is the “Keep Moving Forward” image/sticker. This is a sticker that appears in the movie “Meet the Robinsons”, which motto is “keep moving forward”, based on Walt’s quote. The entire quote is something that he said when he was trying to build the theme park and it was hard for people to understand his motivation towards it. At the end, there is a black screen that shows the entire quote and a few seconds later it highlights the “keep moving forward” part. I thought this sticker would look great in the collage because of these reasons. It is sitting on a ripped page of random text to give the effect of a sketchbook. This is also why the sides of the sticker have the same ripped off mask, as Walt’s picture.
8.  In the bottom right corner of the right page there is a drawing of the Disneyland castle. I used it in the collage because it goes with the aesthetic of it, as it is something someone could find in a sketchbook. The castle also represents Walt’s ideals, so I think it enhances the composition as well.

9. Where is the author of the quote in the image? Why did you choose to put them in that particular place or manner?
The author of the quote is on the left side of my image. I put him in that particular place because, as I created some sort of scrapbook, I felt like I should start with a first glance at a picture of Walt Disney mapping the parks.

10.  How did you use Layer Blend Modes? Why did you select those Modes?
I didn’t use this feature much, I just used it in the Mickey Mouse sketches layer. I used this mode to have the doodles align with the color of the page and give the effect that they were just hand drawn on a page of the sketchbook.

11.   On what layer(s) image(s) did you change the opacity? What were you trying to communicate?
I changed the opacity in the Mickey Mouse layer and in the Disneyland Castle layer. I did this to make both layers look like if they were just drawn in the pages. If I hadn’t modified the opacity, they would just look too dark for them, which would make it seem fake.

12.  Where did you use Masking?
I used masking in the Mickey Sketches layer, the Quote layer, and the Castle layer. By using this feature, I was able to give such layers the appropriate contour and also to erase the parts of the images that I didn’t want in my picture.

13.  Why did you choose this quote? How is it meaningful to you?
I choose this quote because I am always touched by Walt Disney’s words, and this is one of my favorite quotes of him. I learned about it when I watched the movie “Meet the Robinsons” and it stuck with me for a long time. It is meaningful to me because Walt talks about being in constant movement, reinventing, and learning, and I think that is what life is about.

14.  How and where did you manipulate the scale of your images? What effect were you trying to create?
I manipulated the scale of all my images so I could make them fit in the page and fill it as I intended. As I used good quality images, the original ones were just too big for what I needed, so I had to manipulate the scale to make them smaller. I also used this feature to rotate all of them a little bit, so they wouldn’t look all straight and rigid, but more natural instead.
